Join us for two days of learning, connection, and active aging at the Elders in Motion Training Gathering/conference. This gathering will bring together Elders, recreation leaders, community wellness staff, and others interested in supporting healthy, active lifestyles for older adults.

Take a look at what is happening at this year's gathering:

Elders in Motion  Active Living Exercise Program This training helps community, recreation, and health leaders learn to run a physically active aging adults exercise program in their homes or in their community.

Introduction to Tai Chi - is a practice that involves a series of slow gentle movements and physical postures, a meditative state of mind, and controlled breathing.

Strategies for reducing Sedentary Behaviours - Sedentary living is becoming  an epidemic in the NWT. We will discuss some of the strategies to reduce sedentary behaviours.

National Ballet School (NBS) - Building Community, Sharing Dance: An Arts for Health Approach to Dementia Care - Dance is impactful in supporting people living with dementia. This program helps older adults to experience dance in their own way and to feel the physical, emotional and social benefits of creative movement.

How I Survived Exhibit at Sǫ̀mba K’è / Yellowknife Visitors Centre - "How I Survived” celebrates the strength, resilience, spirit, and creativity of former residential school students. We hope it will also provide a new way of understanding the history and legacy of residential and day schooling in the North and inspire forward-looking dialogue.

You are invited to be part of the NWTRPA AGM taking place during lunch on the second day of the gathering.
