About the Event
Wilderness Readiness is designed to prepare participants for emergencies and unexpected stays in remote field working environments. Content includes pre-trip equipment and route planning, an overview of the six priorities of survival, basic navigation with map, compass, and GPS, signaling devices and techniques, communication devices and plans, shelters, basic wildlife awareness, Search and Rescue capacities and limitations, and response strategies when lost or stranded.
Instructors will also review your organization’s pre-trip Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), identify potential dangerous situations for field workers, and work to improve your field safety policies and practices.
Wilderness Readiness is not a survival course – it prepares participants for short-term emergencies in remote environments.
This course will be taught by Arctic Response.
