Looking to acquire skills and confidence running recreation programs in a Northern community? Have a busy schedule with work and family commitments? Check out Recreation North’s Leadership Training Program. Participants can work towards a Certificate or sign up for individual Learning Events depending on their needs.
Developed from the ground up to meet the needs of northern recreation leaders, the Program’s Learning Events provide concrete skills to make running recreation programs easier from day one. Learning Events are delivered remotely to support learning that fits easily into your life. Participants will become part of a network of Northern recreation leaders through which good practices and new ideas for programming and service delivery are shared!
"My experience with the Certificate in Northern Recreation Management has been incredibly beneficial in helping me become a stronger leader," shares Katelynn Hamre, a Graduate of the Northern Recreation Management Training Program. "What I appreciated most about this learning event was getting to listen and connect with other people in communities that were very similar to mine. Most of us are located in rural settings where we often get missed on the map and really have to improvise when it comes to programming with limited resources."
Employers and communities benefit when staff and volunteers participate in the Recreation North Training Program. Staff gain confidence in their abilities to coordinate events, to lead programs, and to manage finances. Trained leaders are more productive, stay longer in their roles, and have a greater influence on quality of life in the community
