How to Apply

The application process is designed to be simple and accessible. You can apply in the way that works best for you - by writing, by sending us audio or video recordings, or by requesting a phone interview.

Keep reading for details on how to submit your application and what we’re looking for when reviewing submissions.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: MAY 16, 2025

                   You can submit your application in one of the following ways:

  • If you prefer to apply verbally, you can request a phone call to complete your application.

  • Email awoogh@nwtrpa.org or call (867) 669-6791 to schedule a time.

How Applications Will Be Assessed


Applications will be assessed by the Activate NT team based on the following criteria:


Project Strength

​

  • Is the project feasible?

  • Will it have a positive impact on the community?

  • Does it address a specific need or reach an underserved audience?

  • Will it create lasting benefits?

  • Does it involve community experts or organizations?

​

Applicant Strength & Commitment

 

  • Why do you want to do this project?

  • What does volunteering mean to you?

  • How committed are you to seeing it through? (e.g., overcoming challenges, attending training, using funds responsibly, and completing reports).

​

Quotas & Representation

​

  • At least 50% of grants will go to Indigenous applicants.

  • At least 50% of grants will go to applicants outside of Yellowknife.

  • We aim for balanced regional representation across the NWT.

​

Project Mentor Support

​

  • Every microgrant recipient must have a project mentor who agrees to support them.

  • The mentor should be familiar with the project and available to provide guidance.

  • If you don’t have a mentor at this time just let us know so we can help you find one!

Application Timeline​

​

  • Applications Open: Now until May 16

  • Application Review: May 19-30

  • Notifications Sent: June 2-13

All applicants will receive an email letting them know whether they have been selected. Successful applicants will also receive a phone call to confirm their participation and next steps.
