Engage Your Community
There are many things that you as an individual or as an organization can do to promote recreation and active living in your community.
- Write a letter to your Legislative Representative or Community Council about the importance of Recreation services in your community;
- Join a committee or Board such as your local recreation organization;
- Volunteer within your community. There could be a need within your community for coaches, people to help clear and build walking trails, someone to help with special events, or many other needs.
If you are not sure what sorts of volunteer opportunities are possible in your community, get in touch with your recreation leader to find out what sorts of volunteers are needed and what you can do.
The NWTRPA would be happy to help you come up with some additional ideas on ways you can become more involved in the recreation system within your community.
