The community of Nahanni Butte has been participating in Walk to Tuk for a few years now, with 2019 marking the 7th year the community has entered a team in the NWTRPA’s walking challenge.

Lory Ann Bertrand, who has participated in her fair share of Walk to Tuk challenges and has taken on the role of team captain in the past, says “It’s been a great activity to stay active during the winter. We have been having the same people participating in Walk to Tuk for the past 3 years and every year we have more community members join the team.”

While everyone usually has a different routine on their walks, the Mountain Walkers team gets together for a group walk every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. A few of the participants, including 2019 team captain Jennifer Konisenta and Lory Ann, come together for the group walks. The group’s route is a loop of the community which takes an hour to complete, giving them lots of time to walk and connect as they log their Walk to Tuk time.
