The Scott McAdam Youth Leadership Award recognizes a youth for outstanding contributions to their community through volunteerism, work experience and studies.

The 2014 Scott McAdam Youth Leadership Winner was Jacob Peffer from Inuvik.

Jacob is a young leader within his home community of Inuvik. He is involved as a volunteer at Community Greenhouse fundraisers, helps out at the coffee shop after work and he cares for the elders of his community by: shoveling snow, helping with chores or visiting during lunch.

“Elders appreciate his help, companionship and support!”

“Jacob is always willing to lend a hand, is very reliable and gets work done!”

Jacob has been a part of both the Youth Ambassador Program and Northern Youth Abroad for multiple years. He has volunteered at Arctic Winter Games, Circumpolar Games and in Africa where he worked on community development projects.

In addition to all his volunteer work, Jacob graduated from high school while supporting himself financially.

“Jacob is an incredibly kind, hardworking and humble individual with a passion for making a difference and helping others.”
