Trans Canada Trail
The NWTRPA is the trail liaison for the NWT with the Trans Canada Trail Foundation. In the role of trail liaison, the NWTRPA has worked to register the Trans Canada Trail in the territory, which includes 640 kilometers of
land trail and 2,329 kilometers of water route for a combined total of 2,969 kilometers.

The Trail is primarily a water route that stretches some 2,335 km from Fort Smith to Tuktoyaktuk on the Arctic Ocean. The Trans Canada Trail passes through a total of 16 northern communities on its way north, including two overland additions to the Trail, the Demspster Highway which terminates in Inuvik, and Highway 3 from Fort Providence to Yellowknife, the capital of the Northwest Territories.
