Ski Trail Development

Winter is by far the longest season in the NWT, so it only makes sense that the NWTRPA support ski trail development during the snowy months!

The new NWTRPA Ski Trail Grooming Guide provides a basic overview of the steps to prepare and groom quality ski tracks. It should prove a useful resource for ski trail developers (click here to see the Ski Trail Grooming Guide).  

For more hands-on support, the Trails Coordinator is the person to contact if you’d like to build, extend or upgrade a ski trail.  Beginning in 2008, the NWTRPA, through the Trail Building Fund, will provide financial and technical assistance for cross-country ski trail development that includes purchase and operation of tracksetting equipment.
