The New Face of Walk to Tuk
In January, Walk to Tuk is celebrating its tenth anniversary. As part of this milestone birthday, the NWTRPA is launching a new website to support this long-standing and much-loved winter walking challenge (stay tuned for more information on that!). We are also welcoming a new staff member to take Walk to Tuk into its next decade, Stefanie Miklosovic.
Members will recognize Stefanie, who joined the NWTRPA in July 2018 as the Membership and Communications Coordinator. In that role, Stefanie spearheaded the development and implementation of a new strategic membership plan. She also leant her keen eye to the production of important NWTRPA resources, such as the recreation directory, annual report, branded pop-ups, and visual identity guide. She did all this while keeping members apprised of activities and opportunities through our website, social media accounts, and E-News. Thanks to Stefanie the NWTRPA Instagram account went from being postless to having almost 400 followers!
Starting this week, Stef will bring her attention to detail, organizational prowess, and communications skills to the Active Communities Coordinator role. In addition to being at the helm of Walk to Tuk, Stefanie will be the lead on June is Recreation and Parks Month and Get Active. She will also be supporting the communications activities of Generations on the Move.
Stefanie completed a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Victoria, and graduate coursework in Global Health Policy at the University of London. Born and raised in Yellowknife, Stefanie loves being outdoors. She is always up for a hike, whether it’s around her hometown or on her travels.
Our new Membership and Communications Coordinator will be starting in January. In the interim, Robin Young will be keeping our website and social media accounts up-to-date, compiling the monthly E-News, and be the main point person for all membership activities. Robin previously worked as the Membership and Communications Coordinator from 2016 to 2018, so he is the perfect person to help us out during this transition.
NOTE: For all those wondering about the absence of Sheena Tremblay at the centre of this year’s Walk to Tuk event, fear not. Sheena is on maternity leave and will return to the organization in August 2020.
