Green Jobs Initiative Fall 2019 – Call for Applications
The Canadian Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA) has secured Government of Canada funding to support a “green jobs” program for youth. Wage subsidies (up to 50%) will be available for Fall 2019 for municipalities and other organizations to hire Youth for Green Jobs. Apply by Wednesday, June 12, 2019.
Wage subsidies will be available for approximately 100 jobs in the Fall of 2019 for Canadian municipalities, Indigenous communities, and other sector organizations to hire Youth for Green Jobs. The first eligible date of work is September 1, 2019. The last eligible date of work is December 31, 2019. Work terms can be variable, lasting between 4-16 weeks in duration. Wage subsidies of up to 50% (or up to $5,712.00 for each youth/job) are available.
The following requirements apply:
- The job must be “New”, meaning it cannot be a strict continuation of a current position.
- The job must be “Green”, broadly speaking. It could be used to support (but is not limited to): on the land programs; outdoor play programs, including day camps; environmental monitoring programs; trail development and maintenance; parks and playgrounds.
- The jobs must be for “Youth”, which is defined as those who are 15-30 years of age and are returning to school on a full-time basis after the work term.
While employers are welcome to set their own wages, the Program contribution amount must be matched by the employer. Matching funds cannot come from another federal government funding program.
