2017 NWTRPA Award Winners!
The NWTRPA Honoured five individuals this week: Krystal Thompson, Faith Raymond, Marie Horassi, Nick Saturnino, and Johanna Elliot.
Wednesday night we welcomed guests and dignitaries to the Inuvik Community Hall for the 2017 NWTRPA Awards Banquet. The event honoured five people from across the NWT for their “continuing efforts and achievements in promoting recreation and active living for all Northerners”. During the night the SideDoor also presented the Youth Centre of Excellence Award.
There are so many recreation leaders in the territory who, everyday, are going above and beyond what is expected of them. Whether they’re a teacher, volunteer, lifeguard or an elder who is setting a good example by staying active, the Awards are our way of showing those individuals that their work is important and appreciated.
Five awards were presented at this year’s event. The winners are as follows:
- Innovation Award – Krystal Thompson (Yellowknife)
- Scott McAdam Youth Leadership Award – Faith Raymond (Inuvik)
- Active Elder Award – Marie Horassi (Fort Simpson)
- Award of Excellence – Nick Saturnino (Inuvik)
- CPRA Award of Merit – Johanna Elliot (Yellowknife)
