2016 Conference Highlights
We’ve gathered some of the biggest highlights and best photos from the 2016 NWTRPA and Youth Centres Conference.
After months of organizing, promoting and planning, the 2016 NWTRPA and Youth Centres Conference has come to a close. With 30 sessions, broken into five streams over three days and over 180 registered delegates, this Conference was the biggest event the NWTRPA has ever hosted and a true watershed moment for the organization.
While there are too many highlights to name them all, some do come to mind:
- The excursion to B. Dene Cultural Camp and the Spruce Gum Harvest and Salve Making sessions were both bit hits with their participants (and the great weather didn’t hurt!).
- The NWTRPA Awards brought together dignitaries and delegates from across the territory to honour some amazing individuals with a fantastic ceremony and dinner at the Explorer Hotel.
- The Conference hashtag #NWTRPA2016, led to many conference delegates sharing their experiences at the event on social media!
- During the Association AGM, the membership voted to endorse the Truth and Reconciliation calls to action and adopt the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) as a framework for future activities.
We could go on, but we won’t. Instead, we’ve gathered the best photos from of the Conference for your viewing pleasure.
