June is Recreation & Parks Month

June is Recreation and Parks Month (JRPM) is a way to celebrate and promote the many benefits of recreation and parks programs and services. It highlights the great things that are happening in recreation centres, parks, pools, and schools that enhance the quality of life of community residents. JRPM recognizes the importance of recreation and parks for physical, social, and environmental health benefits.

To help celebrate JRPM and to encourage people to be physically active, Get Active grants are made available for events taking place in the month of June. JRPM events funded by June Get Active grants provide opportunities to celebrate recreation and parks in communities across the NWT. Events can be in celebration of one of the many special days in June (e.g. International Trails Day, National Health and Fitness Day, etc.).

Don’t forget to show your appreciation for recreation and parks by sharing on social media using the hashtags #recforlife and #JRPM, and tagging @nwtrpa.
