June is Recreation & Parks Month

June is Recreation and Parks Month (JRPM) is a way to celebrate and promote the many benefits of recreation and parks programs and services. It highlights the great things that are happening in our communities that enhance the quality of life of community residents. JRPM recognizes the importance of recreation and parks for physical, social, and environmental health benefits—and this year, JRPM is particularly important.

COVID-19 has created many uncertainties and recreation and parks play a major role in our recovery. Supporting the physical and mental health of community-members, recreation and parks help improve our resilience in these difficult times and brings back a sense of normality

While JRPM may look a little different this year, that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate! Follow us on FacebookTwitter, and/or Instagram for JRPM inspiration. Make sure to follow GNWT public health directives when showing your appreciation for recreation and parks this June

The NWTRPA believes recreation comes in many forms. How will you celebrate? Tag @nwtrpa and use #JRPM.
