Recreation North Opens Course Registration
Recreation North has opened registration for 2019-2020 learning events, and you won’t want to miss them!
In case you didn’t know, the NWTRPA is a proud member of the pan-territorial partnership behind Recreation North (along with RPAY – Recreation and Parks Association of Yukon and RPAN – Recreation and Parks Association of Nunavut). As a partner, we are able to offer learning events online and in-person across the NWT and offer our members discounts on learning events!
The Recreation North Training Program is designed for participants living in the Yukon, NWT, or Nunavut, who work or would like to work or volunteer in recreation. Interested participants enroll in learning events that use online delivery, with the occasional option of in-person delivery. Participants have the option of working towards a Certificate in Northern Recreation Leadership, which requires 12 completed learning events.
There are three new learning events being offered this year: BF 101 – Handle Basic Recreation Finances, CB 101 – Community Building Basics, and RP 101 – Plan for Success. For a description of these learning events, or others, you can visit Recreation North’s website.
Recreation North now also offers a Certificate in Northern Youth Recreation Leadership where participants learn to lead safe, quality recreation programs and activities and develop an appreciation for the benefits of community recreation. Training is delivered in person by each recreation and parks association.
Don’t forget to sign up for an NWTRPA membership if you’d like to get discounts on your training—even for the online learning events run by Recreation North!
