The NWT Recreation and Parks Association will be hosting Learning Facilitator training, and Master Facilitator training for the Elders in Motion program in Fall 2020, and Spring 2021.

The NWTRPA will provide a training grant to 10 Facilitator applicants and 6 Master Facilitator applicants.

Facilitators will receive online training (WIFI provided if needed) and in-person training (once it is safe to resume face-to-face programming). Applicants should be familiar with the Elders in Motion Program and interested in travelling to communities within their region. It is also recommended that applicants receive approval from their supervisor, as training (once you’re a facilitator) often occurs outside of your community, during office hours.

Learning Facilitators will:

  • Co-facilitate one community training with another student/master facilitator.
  • Teach or co-teach the Elders in Motion leader training to communities in their region (travel provided by NWTRPA).
  • Attend EIM advisory committee meetings 3 times per year to offer expertise and ideas on programming and delivery.
  • Participate in monthly learning and sharing webinars.
  • Participate in reporting and support phone calls with the NWTRPA Director Active Communities.
  • Maintain an Elders in Motion program in their home community.

We are also accepting applications for Master Facilitators. Master Facilitators must be experienced in providing training/education to groups on topics of health, wellness and recreation. Master Facilitators must also be familiar with the Elders in Motion program.

Master Facilitators will:

  • Co-facilitate one facilitator training with another student/master facilitator.
  • Teach or co-teach Elders in Motion programs to communities in their region as requested by the NWTRPA a minimum of once per year.
  • Attend EIM program development meetings 3 times per year to advise on program delivery, training, and development.
  • Participate in monthly learning and sharing webinars.
  • Participate in reporting and support phonecalls with the NWTRPA Director Active Communities.

After we receive your application, we will contact you to discuss the next steps in your training to join the Elders in Motion training team!
